The mission of the Thomaston Public Library is to provide accurate, timely, and useful materials in a variety of formats and technologies. Library services and programs are conducted in response to public demand and with reference to the informational, educational, recreational, professional, cultural, and other needs of the community. The Education Enrichment Fund of Thomaston was incorporated in 1988 for the purpose of enriching the intellectual and cultural environment of our public schools. The intent being to provide funds for special and innovative progrms that would not be available from the school district's annual financial plan. Anyone interested in either volunteering or making a donation may contact the Superintendent of Schools who also serves as the EEF secretary (860-283-3053).

The mission of the Thomaston Community Pantry is to provide food to those in need who reside within the Town of Thomaston. Donations of non-perishables may be left in the bin outside the Police Station. Monetary donations may be left in the locked mailbox above the food bin or mailed to P.O. Box 324, Thomaston, CT 06787.

The Thomaston Volunteer Ambulance Corps, located at 237 South Main Street (behind the fire station), consists of approximately 35 active members. The Corps operates two ambulances at the MIC-I with D-Fib and Epi-Pen level.

Since its inception in 1996, the vision of the Fine Arts Connection of Thomaston has been to create an organization dedicated to promoting the varied expressions of creativity in the realm of fine arts.
The Thomaston Recreation Commission offers 6 recreation areas in the Town of Thomaston with a total of approximately 54 acres dedicated to passive and active recreational activities. These facilities combine to provide tennis courts, basketball courts, softball diamonds, baseball diamonds, a track and several areas with playground equipment for children.
Landmark Community Theatre offers opportunities where the community may produce, participate in and enjoy the performing arts; seeks to educate all ages in theater and music; and strives to preserve and protect the Opera House as a historic landmark and community space.
